Physiotherapy Overview

Physiotherapy is a treatment that does not require drugs. The principle is to use human stimulation to achieve therapeutic goals; for example, through the use of electricity, light, hydrotherapy, magnetic field, thermal, exercise, etc. as a medium for physical stimulation.

The scope of physiotherapy is extensive, including in-patient and out-patient services. In-patient physiotherapy includes chest and lung care, postoperative rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, etc; out-patient physiotherapy includes rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery, sports trauma, musculoskeletal and joint pain treatment (such as neck pain, waist and back pain, sciatica), cerebral palsy and stroke rehabilitation.

Through extensive examination, the physiotherapist uses human anatomy, psychology, biomechanics and other knowledge to locate the root cause of the patient’s pain. After a specific target treatment plan, different treatment methods such as manual therapy, joint mobilization, ultrasound, interference current, thermal therapy, magnetic therapy, acupuncture, traction therapy, kinematics, etc. The physiotherapist also advices patients with correct posture to relieve the pain or even to cure it, so as to restore physical activity, improve physical function and prevent further pain to achieve independence of the individual.
